James Strock is a senior advisor/executive-in-residence for Craton Equity Partners.

Jim as dedicated his career to sustainability, serving in the U.S. and internationally. In addition to extensive experience in the business world, he has served in key public roles, including as the founding secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency, and the chief law enforcement officer of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Jim is the author of many articles, as well as three widely-used books on leadership. His forthcoming book, Serve to Lead®: Your Transformational 21st Century Leadership System, will be published in March 2010.



He is a frequent speaker and commentator on sustainability issues, as well as leadership. He has been cited or quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, CNN and many other media outlets.

Jim is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in Finance and Business. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (New York).

He was educated at public and private schools in Austin, Texas, and New Orleans, Louisiana, and at Harvard College (Phi Beta Kappa) and Harvard Law School. He served captain in the USAR-JAGC.
